(Miami, FL) – Just in time for summer, Miami’s own Chili Guys return with their sun-soaked sophomore album Chili Island, set to drop June 17, 2025. Following the heartfelt warmth of their debut Love, Papa, the band now sets sail toward breezier, beachier horizons. The third and final single off the forthcoming album, “Listening to Reggae,” is arriving on May 6. Pre-save here.

With “Listening to Reggae,” Chili Guys pay homage to the global reggae phenomenon and most notably Bob Marley and the Wailers, who took the genre globally.

The song also pays tribute to the band, a nod to the genre that brought them together. Chili Guys comments, “Reggae brings the world together. There’s something about this one that feels bigger than us, it taps into a rhythm and energy that people all over the world can feel.” The new single is introduced with a sweet interlude track sung by band leader Mike Halley’s son, Indigo – clearly a fan of the upcoming single!

The new album Chili Island follows their debut release Love, Papa, a conceptual project that was written during a time when the core members were becoming new fathers. In fact, the first song that they wrote together for that album was ‘Seeds’, as it happened later that night, lead singer Mike Halley’s son was born. With the new album Chili Island, Chili Guys build on the joys and sometimes serious nature of family life themes that Love, Papa presented. Chili Island evolves the themes further by catching a wave of new feel good island vibes mixed with their Miami flavor that presents a sound that feels like a vacation from it all. The band says,  “Chili Island reflects the fun, feel good vibes that Chili Guys are really all about.” They continue:

“This project, Chili Island, is about an island paradise filled with music, good vibes and endless fun in the sun for our family and friends from all around the world! We were inspired by the enjoyment of being out in the sun, out on a boat or a beach, enjoying life and soaking up good vibes with people we love while having fun listening to music.  We wanted to capture that feeling and make something for everyone to enjoy and feel like a vacation in tropical settings or just relaxing on a boat or a beach somewhere.  It’s the perfect album to throw on the speakers at a party on a hot summer day outside.”

Inviting listeners to drift into tropical daydreams, sip something cold, and let the rhythm roll in like the tide, Chili Island is a sonic vacation felt across 12 groove-laden tracks. The blend of reggae-rock with coastal soul, feel-good funk, and guitar-driven surf vibes is perfect for this summer release! 

A fun fueled album, recorded at FLOW STATE STUDIOS in Miami, Florida, Chili Island a powerhouse roster with writer, vocalist, acoustic guitar Mike Halley; writer, percussion and vocalist Alex Gonzalez;  writer, percussion and vocalist Andy Gonzalez; writer, vocalist, guitar and producer, engineer and mixed by Michael ‘Vazen’ Vanasek; bass player,  co-producer, engineer and mixed by  Frank Kenobi (¡Mayday!); Miami Beat Wave producer for “Rum Line” and “Tequila Sunrise.” Plus, the new album features contributions from Alex Coombs (Rauw Alejandro) on trumpet, Tony Cora on guitar,  and Branden Decaso on sax.

Ahead of the new album, Chili Guys have released a few singles, including “Summertime.” The new song features smooth sax chords that instantly transport listeners to Caribbean beaches. “Beach in Miami” was the second release from the album and has proven to be a fan favorite and show closer. The R&B infused reggae-rock song hits hot with the closing rhythmic dembow and house beats. It is the anthem of their hometown, representing Miami and Latin Caribbean cultures – Chili Guys style. 

The band, Chili Guys, is built on collaboration, unity, and a shared sense of joy in the creative process.  With the band’s studio owned by bandleader Mike Halley, each member brings their talents from producing to seasoned musicians and there is no shortage of ideas. Their creation process includes meeting regularly for breathwork and a jam session. Most of the songs come from these impromptu studio sessions where they just have fun exploring musical ideas. From these sessions, Chili Island was created and the Chiliverse continues to grow to reach new audiences and find kindred spirits.

Chili Guys, known for their laid-back charm and genre-surfing sound, have built a grassroots following that has generated an organic buzz. It has caught on fast within the Miami music scene with performances that blur the line between jam session and beach party. The feel-good music and sound captures the Chili Guys’ energy and love of music. Spreading good vibes and a positive message is a core component of the band’s mission, which has steadily developed its unique sound that has an infectious appeal to all ages.  

Fans can catch the band at FLOW LIVE events, held monthly at Flow State Studios, where they share the stage with local talent in the greater Miami area.
